Jim Jones is sticking beside Drake in his legal battle against Universal Music Group (UMG).

The Dipset star believes people are misinterpreting the intentions behind Drake’s defamation lawsuit, which, despite its focus on Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” isn’t targeting the Los Angeles rapper directly. Drake’s legal team clarifies that the lawsuit is about UMG, which published, promoted, and monetized false and dangerous allegations.
In a recent appearance on the “Broke N’ Frontin” podcast, Jones emphasized that Drake is operating on a different level. He argued that Drake is pursuing a massive financial opportunity, not attacking his opponent.
“He didn’t sue Kendrick Lamar…He sued UMG, which is the biggest company that has the biggest bag,” Jones explained, seeing it as a strategic move, akin to suing a company like Amazon.
“We suing everybody, n***a! Any one of them companies I get a chance to, playing at that level, to sue for billions? I’m going for it,” Jones stated.
The 48-year-old noted that if Drake were suing Lamar directly, he’d feel differently. He compared the case to Tracy Morgan’s legal victory against Walmart in 2014 when he was involved in a serious accident with one of the company’s vehicles.
“How the f**k we not gon’ be happy about somebody who gets a bag from one of the biggest companies that’s been raping everybody anyway?” Jones questioned.
Ultimately, Jones believes Drake is “smart enough to use his turbulence” to target UMG, forcing them to be accountable for the music they get behind.
Drake has accused the label of pushing “Not Like Us” and even using bots to boost its success, despite the record falsely accusing him of being a sex offender.
