Kanye West’s Yeezy.com has been pulled offline after backlash over the rapper selling a swastika T-shirt on the site. Visitors attempting to access the page are now met with error messages stating “something went wrong” and “this store is unavailable.”
West’s e-commerce platform, Shopify, confirmed the shutdown, citing a violation of its terms of service.
“All merchants are responsible for following the rules of our platform. This merchant did not engage in authentic commerce practices and violated our terms, so we removed them from Shopify,” the company told Variety in a statement.
The controversy escalated after West ran a surprise Super Bowl commercial in Los Angeles, directing viewers to Yeezy.com, only to flip the site afterward and replace all products with just one item: the $20 swastika T-shirt. The low-budget ad, filmed on an iPhone, showed West in a dentist’s chair, urging fans to visit the site.
Shopify faced immediate criticism for allowing the site to operate, especially after West’s X (formerly Twitter) profile was recently deactivated due to days of antisemitic, misogynistic, and pornographic posts. The rapper had declared “I’m a Nazi” and praised Hitler, sparking outrage from anti-hate organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League and the American Jewish Committee.
