Prosecutors in Diddy’s upcoming sex trafficking trial want to know if jurors are fans of police sitcoms.
As part of the case, both sides recently filed updated versions of their proposed juror questionnaires, with the government’s version seeking to uncover potential biases. One of the 38 questions includes inquiries about jurors’ TV habits, specifically whether they watch shows like “Law and Order” or “CSI.”
The aim of the new questions, according to the government, is to identify “possible reasons why you might not be able to sit as a fair and impartial juror.” A key question at the end asks about jurors’ backgrounds, including their TV preferences.
On the other hand, Diddy’s team submitted a much shorter questionnaire than their original 72-question, 27-page draft, which had drawn criticism from the prosecution. The revised version probes jurors’ views on “wealthy individuals” and their opinions about the hip-hop industry. It also asks whether hearing evidence about “people engaging in sexual relations with multiple sexual partners” might be difficult for any juror.
The final version of the questionnaire will be settled before jury selection begins on May 5th, with opening arguments slated to follow on May 12th.
