One of the key suspects in the Kim Kardashian Paris robbery reportedly died suddenly just as the case against him was about to go to trial.
Marceau Baum-Gertner, accused of working alongside the gang that held the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star at gunpoint in October 2016, died on March 6th in Paris at the age of 72. His cause of death has not been disclosed, but his passing removes a central defendant from the high-profile proceedings.
Baum-Gertner had initially been expected to stand trial alongside alleged accomplices facing charges related to the $10 million heist. During pre-trial interrogations, he refused to identify any co-conspirators. Reports suggested that “there was the possibility he would name names as a way of getting less prison time,” fueling speculation about plea strategies.
The trial continues to loom for Kardashian’s other alleged attackers. m6info reported, “Kim is going to take the stand at the trial of the Parisian underground gang alleged to have been behind the robbery. She’ll appear in court in May, when she will testify.” The reality star previously provided the judge with a blow-by-blow account, but testifying before a jury will allow her to recount that infamous night in direct testimony.
With Baum-Gertner’s exit, legal teams must adjust strategies. His absence highlights the unpredictable nature of criminal prosecutions and leaves open questions about how remaining defendants will proceed without him. The case now advances under an altered courtroom dynamic, as Kardashian solemnly prepares to revisit a traumatic event under oath.
