T.I. Faces Lawsuit for Allegedly Ripping Off “Situationships” Movie Title from Smaller Creator

Rapper and filmmaker T.I. is facing legal heat over his upcoming movie “Situationships,” with a lawsuit claiming the film’s title was lifted from an existing web series.

TV producer Cylia Senii has filed a trademark infringement suit against T.I. and his company, Grand Hustle Films, accusing them of intentionally misappropriating the title “Situationships,” which she developed and distributed across platforms like YouTube, BET Digital, Amazon Prime, and Tubi.

“Defendants are engaging in a common scheme and effort to take advantage of the public’s association of Featherstone’s ‘Situationships’ brand by marketing their own film and entitling it ‘Situationships,’” reads the complaint, filed by her Atlanta-based company, Featherstone Entertainment.

Senii, who served as a producer for her “Situationships” series from 2019 to 2024, says she was “shocked” to discover T.I. was starring in, writing, and directing a film under the same title.

Her legal team points out troubling overlaps. One former collaborator, close to T.I.’s family, allegedly moved on to work on his film. Another producer she discussed the concept with is now attached to the movie project.

Senii says the situation is “ironic” considering T.I. and Tiny recently won a $71 million lawsuit after their IP was used by toymaker MGA.

She previously sent a cease and desist in December, and one of T.I.’s attempts to trademark the name was rejected in May. Now, she’s demanding an injunction and monetary damages, claiming unfair competition and civil conspiracy.
