Republicans in the House are pushing a new bill that would put the late Charlie Kirk on U.S. currency.
The legislation calls for the U.S. Treasury to mint 400,000 silver dollar coins featuring his portrait. Alongside his likeness, the coin would include his full name, the year 2026, and the words “well done, good and faithful servant” drawn from biblical tradition. The bill leaves the final design in the hands of the Treasury Secretary in consultation with the sitting President.
If approved, Kirk would become one of the youngest Americans to appear on U.S. legal tender. Congress passed bipartisan resolutions honoring Kirk’s life and condemning political violence. The Senate also approved a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk. Supporters say the currency honor is the next step in preserving his legacy.
There is already a law from 1866 that bars living people from being featured on U.S. currency. Since Kirk was murdered earlier this year, Republicans argue the rule no longer applies.
