The Dallas Cowboys were hit with another setback Friday when star cornerback Trevon Diggs was ruled out for Sunday’s game after suffering a concussion in what the team is calling a “home accident.”
Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer broke the news to reporters, saying, “Treyvon Diggs came in this morning with some concussion symptoms after having an accident at his home. He’s been checked out by our doctors. He’s in the protocol and will miss the game.”
The details surrounding the incident remain unclear, though Schottenheimer said the team learned of it late Thursday night.
“We’re gathering information. Just got that information walking over from our doctors… it happened last night,” he explained. “It’s part of the business, it’s unfortunate. Obviously, we want what’s best for Trayvon. The biggest thing is the concern for Trayvon, that he’s OK.”
With Diggs sidelined, rookie Trikweze Bridges and second-year player Caelen Carsen will step into bigger roles. Meanwhile, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb’s expected return offers a silver lining, but the Cowboys’ defense faces yet another uphill climb.
