It looks like there’s going to be another Whitney Houston film and like last time, her family will not be involved.
Rolling Stone Magazine reports that filmmaker Nick Broomfield, known for his controversial documentaries Kurt and Courtney and Biggie and Tupac, is working on a film that will document the rise and fall of Whitney Houston. “Whitney” is set to debut on BBC Two.
From the network’s website:
“Whitney Houston sold over 150 million albums, had seven consecutive US number ones, and was one of the most successful female singers of all time.
Now, four years after her death, acclaimed filmmaker Nick Broomfield (Sara Palin: You Betcha!; Aileen: Life And Death Of A Serial Killer; Kurt & Courtney) goes in search of the forces that made and then destroyed the singer who has been described as having one of the greatest voices of the last 50 years.”
Per a statement made to Rolling Stone, Whitney Houston’s family was in no way involved in the making of this film. “The Whitney Houston Estate has no involvement in this program whatsoever,” a rep says.
