Tommy Tuberville says Isaiah Pead’s Football Career is Over After Car Crash

Over the weekend, two former University of Cincinnati football players got into a single-car accident, leaving both injured, one with a career ending injury.

Isaiah Pead, who is also a former NFL baller, was critically injured after driving off the side of Interstate 670 in Columbus, Ohio, reports state. Officials say, Pead lost control of his car at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

“There was nothing involved other than speed, and he had a blowout,” the Cincinnati head coach, Tommy Tuberville said. “When you have a blowout, you can’t control the car.”

As a result, Pead was thrown out of the car and lost part of his leg. Wesley Richardson, the former Bearcats defensive back, suffered minor injuries.

“He’ll never play again, obviously,” Tuberville said of the 2012 second-round draft pick. “It’s just devastating.”

“It’s hard on him and his family, because he’s going to have a tough life in front of him. Our prayers go out to him. Tough situation to a great kid, and a great Bearcat.” Tuberville said.

According to officials, drugs and alcohol were not involved.

The Rams coach issued a statement about Pead, who played for the team from 2012-2015.

“Our organization’s hearts and prayers go out to the Isaiah Pead family. I spoke with his mom [on Saturday]. He’s struggling, and he’s going to have a tough road. We’re hoping that he’ll come through this, but his career is over, and he was an outstanding young man while we had him.”

The former baller last played for the Miami Dolphins, but was released.
