Don’t Let Social Media Define Your Relationship

Over and over we have seen people get carried away with allowing social media to define their relationship. In other words, if your significant other doesn’t post you, then it’s not real. I’m not sure where the disconnect happened but people seem to think that their relationship needs an approval from social sites.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now this didn’t just start, so we are not going to blame Instagram or Facebook. Let’s take it back to MySpace for those that actually used it. Remember how your people in your Top 8 meant something to you. If they weren’t one of those eight people, then they weren’t that important.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Back then, we even took as far as deleting our significant other if they were acting crazy or just getting on our nerves. We knew that if we removed them, they would be pissed off. But even then, people felt like they needed a validation from MySpace.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Social Media should never define one’s relationship. As long as they are not being disrespectful, should it really matter if they post you or not? If the person wants to post you, then they will do so. But, it should be their choice. No one should be forced to like a picture, post a picture of the two of you, or etc.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t let something like social media get in the way of your relationship. People on the outside really don’t care, so don’t allow them to gas you up into feeling like the only way a person can show you they care or love you is by posting you. No one should need validation from the outside looking in, so don’t look for it!
