DjangoUnchained was another one of #QuentinTarantino’s hit films. However, the excessive use of the n-word shocked many after its debut, but #JamieFoxx says he was fine with it.⠀⠀

“Django Unchained” was written and directed by Tarantino, which featured the n-word over 100 times in the film. The story takes place back during slavery and tells the journey of a freed slave who partners with a bounty hunter in order to rescue his wife in brutal Mississippi.

While reminiscing about his various films, Foxx brought up how a script stays with an audience for long periods of times. Foxx, who played the main character “Django,” said during a Yahoo Entertainment interview the use of the n-word didn’t bother him, as the film was a period piece and reflected how things were during that era. “I understood the text,” Foxx explained of the film, which was set in the deep south during slavery. The N-word was said 100 times, but I understood the text — that’s the way it was back in that time.”

The actor also applauded Tarantino for his thoroughness in directing. “Working with [writer-director] Quentin Tarantino is the best,” Foxx gushed. “Because he’s like a jazz musician. He just plays. And he has incredible disciplines. He says, I only shoot with one camera. I’m a director, not a video selector — so everything he shoots is one camera, it’s lean…I would see Quentin Tarantino at clubs, dinners, things like that, and just be like, “You the baddest motherf***er on the planet.”
