After spending eleven months in jail for murder, former East Mississippi Community College running back and “Last Chance U” star, Isaiah Wright, has been released.
In September, Wright was arrested and charged in connection to the fatal stabbing of 18-year-old Caleb Radford. The arrest came just two years after the baller appeared on the first season of the Netflix series, “Last Chance U,” which followed the EMCC football program.
In the show’s second season, which focused on players who had been dismissed from Division I programs due to academic or disciplinary issues, Wright faced a decline in production after his explosive rookie season. Despite the decline in his 2016 season, the baller still managed to secure a Division I offer to West Virginia in 2017.
However, in August of the same year, Wright left the team, and one month later, the baller found himself behind bars in connection to the murder, alongside two others.
But now, after cutting a plea deal in his case, Wright has been given, yet, another chance.
In a Wednesday hearing, the now-20-year-old agreed to plead guilty to one count of facilitation of aggravated robbery, which according to TMZ, means he “furnished assistance without the intent to commit robbery,” and as a result, the criminal homicide charge was dropped.
Under the terms of the deal, Wright has been granted time served but will have to serve five years probation. As for future of his football career, his plans remain unclear.
“On the road to riches, and I can’t stop now it’s in my blood,” Wright tweeted. “I live, sleep, and breathe football.”
