Fantasia, please listen to your Father. I did even when I did not want to. I knew I would be hurt if I listened to my Father. I listened to what my Father had to say me about the guy I was with at that time. My Father never seen the guy. I had to true to my self and that is why I listened. I knew my Father loved me and would not tell me anything that would hurt me. My parents divorced when I was five and he was always in my life. My Father had his vices like many Black men. But, I always respected him even when we argued over the telephone about his stuff unrelated to my relationships to men. As an adult in my 30s at that time, I felt uncomfortable talking with him about the situation with this particular guy. But I did. I wish I would have talked with him about this guy 13 years prior because it would have saved me much heartache. Approximately one year later, I found out from a female I did not know but who felt comfortable speaking with me about her best friend and her boyfriend. God blesses you when you listen—My Father was Right!
