Kendrick Lamar’s flashy “A” chain at the Super Bowl was originally believed to be a dig at Drake. However, it actually holds a much bigger meaning with a hefty price tag.

The lowercase “A” pendant Lamar sported during his performance at the 2025 Super Bowl actually refers to the logo of his multimedia company, pgLang, which he co-founded in 2020 with longtime friend and business partner, Dave Free. Based in Los Angeles, pgLang spans music, film, television, art, and more, with a mission to shape and communicate creative language for the current generation. The “A” appeared not just in the chain, but also on Kendrick’s performance jacket and flags waved by his crew.

Celebrity jeweler Elliot Eliantte is the genius behind this stunning piece, which was held by an iced-out chain that spelled out pgLang in pink and white diamonds. This one-of-one creation is rumored to have cost Lamar roughly $1.2 million, utilizing over 500 diamonds.

Despite the true story behind the chain coming to light, some fans couldn’t shake the idea that the chain was a direct reference to Lamar’s ongoing feud with Drake, especially after his song “Not Like Us” uses the line “Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably a minor,” a clever wordplay referencing both the A minor musical chord and Drake, whom Kendrick controversially called a “certified pedophile.”
