A 2 Live Crew Biopic Is Coming To Theaters

Deadline reports that Lionsgate is moving forward on a biopic about Miami hip-hop group, 2 Live Crew.

 

The Book of Luke will center around the group and its leader, Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell. It will tell the story of the provocative group’s beginnings and their envelope-pushing antics that lead Uncle Luke to rise from poverty to superstardom.

 

Lionsgate is “moving quickly” on the production of the movie. Reportedly it will also touch on the legal battle surrounding 2 Live Crew’s rendition of Roy Orbison’s 1965 hit “Oh, Pretty Woman,” which involves Campbell fighting Orbison’s record label over his right to release a parody of the original song. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court.  The court ruled in Campbell’s favor and
