A double shooting at a child’s birthday party has devastated a family after a 3-year-old boy was killed and a 21-year-old woman was injured.
According to the Miami Herald, the double shooting that happened last night in Northeast Miami-Dade killed 3-year-old Elijah LaFrance.
Authorities said at 8 p.m., ShotSpotter alert directed them to the home, which was used as a “short-term rental.” The birthday party was being held at the second house east of Miami Avenue on Northeast 158th Street. When police arrived, they found the boy who had been shot and raced him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived and took the woman to Aventura Hospital, where she’s currently listed in stable condition.
Miami-Dade police are still investigating and haven’t released any information on the shooter. A $5,000 reward is being offered to anyone who can provide information that leads to the shooter’s arrest. Please call
