4 Killed and 9 Injured in Louisville Bank Shooting, Gunman Also Dead

In a shooting at a bank in downtown Louisville, at least four people were killed and nine others injured.

According to authorities, the shooter identified as 23-year-old Connor Sturgeon.

Police confirmed Sturgeon was an employee of Old National Bank, where the shooting occurred.

The victims were identified as Joshua Barrick, Juliana Farmer, Tommy Elliott and James Tutt, the chief said. They were all between the ages of 40 and 64.

Louisville Metro Police Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey told reporters that a 26-year-old police officer who graduated from the police academy just 10 days ago was one of the nine wounded. That officer was shot in the head. Five of the nine people injured had gunshot wounds, and three of the nine are hospitalized in critical condition.

On Twitter, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said, “Please pray for all of the families impacted and for the city of Louisville.”

“This is awful,” he said in an update on Twitter.

“I have a very close friend that didn’t make it today, and I have another close friend who didn’t either and one who’s at the hospital that I hope is going to make it through, so when we talk about praying, I hope people would.”

“This is a tragic event, but it was the heroic response of officers that made sure that no more people were more seriously injured than what happened,” Humphrey said.
