O Yeong-su, the award-winning star of “Squid Game,” has been charged with sexual misconduct in Korea.
According to AFP, the 78-year-old was accused of inappropriately touching a woman’s body in 2017 and was subsequently freed without being held in custody.
In December 2021, a woman filed a complaint against Yeong-su, and police closed the case in April, but it was reopened at the victim’s request.
According to reports, when questioned by authorities, Yeong-su refuted the accusations.
“I just held her hand to guide the way around the lake.”
He said, “I apologized because [the person] said she wouldn’t make a fuss about it, but it doesn’t mean that I admit the charges.”
Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office told AFP that local media’s reports on the veteran actor “is not factually incorrect.”
A government TV commercial with Yeong-su was just taken off the air by the Korean Ministry of Culture in response to the charges.
