A-Rod Hits 661st Home Run, Becomes 4th All-Time Home Run Leader in MLB History – blogged by @LoveRubyWoo

As A-Rod works to get back into the good graces of Yankees fans, his recent play on the baseball field might just help to speed up the process. Last night in a game against the Baltimore Orioles, Rodriguez hit his 661st career home run, which helped the Yankees to defeat the Orioles 4-3. His latest home run also puts him past MLB legend Willie Mays as the 4th all-time home run leader in the history of the league. As he made his way to home plate, fans gave him a standing ovation and a curtain call, which is something he hadn’t experienced in a while. After getting the okay from manager Joe Girardi, Rodriguez went back out on the field and stood in front of the fans with his hands raised above his head.

A-Rod was suspended for the entire 2014 season for using performance enhancing drugs, which was recorded as the longest drug suspension in the history of the MLB. He was finally reinstated on this year’s opening day in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Since coming back, he has been clutch for the Yankees so far, hitting his seventh home run of the season last night. With this latest home run, he continues to climb up on the list of players who have made history hitting balls out of the park. Now the only three players ahead of him are the legendary Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, and of course, Barry Bonds.

Whether you love or hate the man, there’s no denying that 661 home runs is an impressive feat. Hats off to A-Rod!
