A Woman Cuts Up 32 Dresses In Bridal Shop After She Was Denied A Refund On A $550 Down Payment

A woman in China cut up 32 wedding dresses because she got into it with the store workers over a deposit.

Gowns and dresses worth thousands were carved up like a Halloween pumpkin after a woman got upset because a bridal shop—located in Chongqing’s Jiangjin district—refused to give her $550 deposit back, according to Newsweek.

The woman had reportedly used the $550 as a down payment on a wedding package. However, she ended up canceling it, and the bridal shop allegedly refused to give her back her money.

The incident happened on Jan. 9, according to the Chinese media outlet Sohu. The woman was caught on the video slicing 32 dresses that were reportedly worth $11,000. The woman purchased the wedding package in April 2021 for her wedding that was initially scheduled for Oct. 5; the package cost $1,260, Newsweek reports.

“Think clearly, these dresses cost thousands [yuan],” said a woman filming the ordeal. “Thousands? Even [if] it’s ten [of] thousands, it doesn’t matter,” the enraged customer clapped back.

Local media reports say the woman asked back in August to have her booking postponed for a later date in November. But, her request was against store policy, and she was ultimately denied the refund. Since then, the woman has apologized for the incident, and her husband reportedly plans on paying the shop owner for the damaged product.
