ADT Technician Pleads Guilty To Spying On Customers Undressing and Engaging In Sexual Activity

A Dallas-based ADT technician pleads guilty this past week to an unauthorized security breach. He accessed the security feed of over 200 customers to watch them undress and engage in sexual activity.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Northern District of Texas, Telesforo Aviles, 35, admitted to hacking in customer’s accounts more than 9,600 times over a four and half year span.

He took note of which homes had attractive women and watched security footage for “sexual gratification,” the prosecution said.

The Prosecution also mentioned, reported by People, that Aviles placed his personal email to the accounts added on ADT Pulse, an app that allows customers to access real-time video feed of their home. He sometimes informed customers, telling them it was for testing purposes. Other times he did it without their knowledge.

Just about 220 customers in the Dallas area were affected.

The acting U.S. Attorney Prerak Shah said in a statement, “This defendant, entrusted with safeguarding customers’ homes, instead intruded on their most intimate moments.

Shah continued, “We are glad to hold him accountable for this disgusting betrayal of trust.”

ADT has been very transparent with its customers and the rest of the public since this has all come to the surface. Redirecting the majority of questions to a specific page on their website regarding the incident.

According to the site, Aviles was terminated “in April 2020 after a customer reported an unauthorized email found on their account.”

A statement released by the company made it clear that Aviles acted on his own personal agenda.

“This incident does not reflect the values of our brand nor the thousands of men and women at ADT who have dedicated their careers to helping protect others,” part of the statement read. “We apologize to the customers affected by the actions of this former employee and deeply regret this incident. The ADT mission is to help protect and connect people with the things they love most.”

Aviles is facing up to five years in federal prison.
