Exclusive Details: Akon Booked in Georgia After Skipping Court on Suspended License Case

Akon

Music star Akon was arrested on November 7 in Chamblee, Georgia, and now, we’ve learned exactly why he was taken into custody.

The 52-year-old was apprehended after police discovered he had an active warrant issued by the Roswell Police Department. The arrest stems from a traffic stop two months prior, and the official charge is failure to appear on a suspended license case.

According to the Roswell Police Department’s report, which was obtained by Baller Alert, Akon, whose real name is Aliaune Badara Thiam, was pulled over on September 10, 2025, after his Tesla Cybertruck broke down near Holcomb Bridge Road. Officers found the vehicle had no valid insurance on file and that Akon’s license had been suspended since January 2023 for a previous failure to appear. He was issued a citation at the scene and allowed to leave, but when he didn’t show up to court, a warrant was issued.

Chamblee police picked him up on that warrant during a routine interaction, and he was booked into DeKalb County Jail just after noon on November 7. He was released approximately six hours later after processing.

An illegal vape was also found during the Roswell stop, but no charges were filed in relation to it. Akon has not made a public statement regarding the arrest, and it’s unclear whether this incident will impact any of his upcoming appearances or projects.
