Amber Rose Opens Up About Sexual Assault in Middle School – blogged by @LoveRubyWoo

Amber Rose has always been very vocal about the uplifting of women that society deems as “hoes” or “sluts”, women who are looked down upon because they are open and free with their sexuality. This year has been an especially big year for Amber’s cause as she hosted her first ever Slut Walk in Los Angeles and released her first book, “How To Be A Bad Bitch”. Recently, Amber sat down for an interview with MTV News, where she talked about her exciting new ventures as well as her views on feminism.

During the interview, she also opened up about a painful experience she went through in seventh grade, which helped to open her eyes to the injustices of society and how differently males and females are treated when it comes to sex.

“I was sexually assaulted in the seventh grade,” Amber revealed. “This boy stuck his hand all the way up my skirt. I was sitting on the edge of the stage in the auditorium, and he sat down next to me and put his hand up my skirt… I went to principal, and I told her that I felt extremely violated. I couldn’t believe that he had touched me like that. And she blamed me. She said, “You shouldn’t even be wearing a skirt like that.” Obviously, in the seventh grade, my skirt was not that short — but even if it was, that didn’t give him the right to shove his hand up my skirt.”

Amber found out at a young age that there are many double standards when it comes to gender and sex, with women almost always receiving the backlash and men almost always getting the praise. Unfortunately, not much has changed since that day when Amber was blamed for causing her own sexual assault, but she is hoping that her voice can invoke change in the future as she continues to fight for the cause.
