Atlanta Hawks guard Dennis Schroder was arrested on misdemeanor battery charge in Georgia. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to ESPN, the incident occurred early Friday morning. Officials responded to a call around 2 a.m., reporting a fight at a hookah bar in Brookhaven. Security cameras reportedly saw Schroder and several others getting into a heated argument with the victim. Schroder reportedly initiated the altercation by shoving the victim, which then led to a full out physical altercation. The guard is reportedly seen hitting and kicking the victim until security intervened. Schroder was arrested and charged with battery.
Although the incident was caught on tape, officials say they will not be releasing the footage yet because of pending prosecution, reports state. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In turn, the Hawks released a statement, confirming their knowledge of the incident. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“We are aware of an incident involving Dennis Schröder earlier this morning,” the statement read. “We are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation, and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time.”
