Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter Accused Of Rape By Dream’s Melissa Schuman

As sexual assault allegations continue to plague the industry, Nick Carter is the latest to be accused. According to reports, former Dream singer Melissa Schuman has accused the Backstreet Boys singer of raping her back in the 2000s, when she was 18.

Schuman said Carter was 22 at the time of the incident. According to the TMZ, Schuman said Carter invited her to his home in Santa Monica, after their managers suggested that they date for PR purposes. She claimed a friend came to the apartment as well, and the three of them began to drink. As the liquor settled in the system, Schuman claimed Carter started to kiss her.

The singer detailed the incident in a blog post, revealing that the boy band singer then took her to the bathroom and forcibly performed oral sex on her. “I told him to stop, but he didn’t. So I turned off the bathroom light so I wouldn’t see anything. He kept turning the light back on because he told me he wanted to look at me,” she wrote, adding that once he finished, he reportedly forced her to perform oral on him in return. The woman said Carter then took her back to the bedroom and raped her, even after she reiterated that she did not want to have sex and wanted to save herself for her husband.

“It was done. The one thing I had held as a virtue had been ruined,” she wrote. “I went limp, turned my head to my left and decided I would just go to sleep now. I wanted to believe it was some sort of nightmare I was dreaming up.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Schuman revealed that she told her manager about the alleged incident, but her team believed they stood no chance against Carter’s celebrity and legal team. She said she was also told the accusation would hurt his career.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“I never wanted anybody to know about my story. I wanted to lock it in a box in my mind and let the memories slowly suffocate as time went on,” she wrote. “I feel I have an obligation now to come forward with the hope and intention to inspire and encourage other victims to tell their story. We are stronger in numbers. If you are reading this and you have been assaulted, know you don’t have to be silent and you are not alone. I know it’s scary. I’m scared.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

According to reports,  Carter has yet to respond to the claims.
