Baller Alert’s Today in Hip-Hop: T.I. Released “ASAP” 13 Years Ago

On May 24, 2005, 13 years ago today, T.I. released “ASAP” as his third single and final single from his third studio album, “Urban Legend.”

 

Although the song is said to be a diss track for Houston rapper, Lil Flip, it was still a success as it sold over 500,000 copies in the United States. It was also selected to be featured on the soundtrack for the 2005 video game, “Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition,” and remixed by Big Kuntry King and Mac Boney.

As for the charts, “ASAP” peaked at No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for eight weeks, and No. 18 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
