Ballerific Health: Be Your Own Motivator and Do It For You

Sometimes the only thing standing between you and your transformation is you. For @therobertashow it was realizing that she was indeed the problem and making promises to herself to fix it.

My highest weight was right around 300 lbs. One day I stepped on the scale and I was 25 lbs heavier than I had been 3 months before. Being heavy my entire life had already bruised my ego enough to the point of depression, and being an emotional eater – the only way I saw to deal with any problem was to eat some more. I began to realize that i was the SOURCE of all my problems, I was the person digging the hole to the depression i was falling in to. I didn’t believe in myself because i didn’t love myself enough to see the potential and also didn’t know what I could do to change it. I was a full time collage student & employee, fully supporting myself – I wasn’t even sure I had the TIME to dedicate to my esteem. The only fact I was sure of is that I could not keep existing in the sad, negative state I was living in.

Once i realized i needed to do something to change my self and future, I took to practicing the most obvious weight loss techniques. I simply woke up and promised myself a few things. No more fast food, no more candy and sweets, no snacking and no more soda. I actually only drank water from then throughout the weight loss process. I knew vegetables were good – so i only ate fresh green things and nothing processed from a box. I ate fresh fruits for breakfast, salads for lunch and a combinations of fresh vegetables for dinner with occasional baked fish or chicken. Within the implementation of just these changes in the first 6 months I lost about 50 lbs. For my entire life I had also been embarrassed about “attempting” to loose weight, so i only began any type of exercising when i felt comfortable enough with being seen exerting any energy toward it. I began walk/jogging in intervals at night followed by as many sit ups as i could suffer. In about a year with constant healthy (clean) eating and my version of exercising I lost 100 lbs.

To this day – YEARS later, anything i have accomplished in life is only comparable to the huge obstacle i was able to overcome on my own and keep up. These days – the gym is my solace, it’s where i relieve any stress and compete with various versions of myself.

Now, my number one mental trick is to think of all I have overcome and ask if I’m willing to give it all up. Preparation is a HUGE trick, I know that if I prepare healthy lunches I won’t be inclined to eat poorly. I will also have full control over what is going into my body. I also set rules for myself, like cardio 5 times a week no matter what and also treating myself for a job well done. This past year I have adopted JUICING into my weekly routine, I juice a variety of fruits, vegetables and spices Sunday night and mix them into freezer safe travel cups. I freeze and bring one to work each day and by noon my spicy health slushy juice is ready to drink. It’s quickly become my favorite meal. I have plenty of tips, recipes and my full story on my motivational / inspirational blog www.therobertashow.com. Watch me design all versions of life inside and out.
