To say Rihanna has changed within her time span here in this industry is a mere understatement. Seemingly, she has grown before our eyes & was under media scrutiny just a year ago with her last album Rated R; a true tale to how the effects of love & lack thereof can send one on a whirlwind.
She’s bounced back & has returned with a more fun, sassy & flirty album in Loud. What a difference a year can make, both appearance & sound wise. Ms. Fenty is now in control of what many wrote off as her demise. She’s a more free spirit with this album enjoying the ride wherever it takes her. Pop influenced single, Only Girl in the World, is steady rising on the charts which proves she’s more than just your typical radio friendly artist. Personally, I don’t think she could have chosen a better follow up single in Whats My Name, featuring Drake. Stargate, production team behind such hits as Beyonce’s Irreplaceable & Rihanna’s own Don’t Stop the Music surely know how to make a hit record.
A song that many can relate to & surely will have one agreeing is Cheers (Drink to That). Its catchy & clearly after a long days work, sometimes a drink is needed. Hell, I’ll drink to that! Rihanna has progressively changed for the better. Its good to see her embrace a new place in her life & be extremely comfortable in that arena. Some other stand out tracks are California King Bed, Raining Men feat. Nicki Minaj, Skin & Love the Way You Lie pt II which offers the female perspective of a troubled relationship.
The symbolism in her change, new man, new hair, new #1 singles, Rihanna is surely living her life out LOUD, anything else would simply be existing.
