Amar’e Stoudemire has reached terms in principle with the New York Knicks. On Friday the Knicks were reportedly offering Stoudemire a max deal of $100 million over the next the five years.
Amar’e who spent his entire weekend in New York catching a broadway musical and enjoying dinner at a few restaurants can’t sign his deal officially until Thursday, but has quickly begun the process of settling into his new home.
“I feel great about being a pioneer and showing my leadership,” he said at Madison Square Garden, where signs throughout the entrances showed the player pictured in a Knicks uniform and reading “Welcome, Amare Stoudemire.”
“No one wanted to make the first move and I feel confident enough to take that first step and hopefully now we can bring a few guys in to join me,” Stoudemire said.
On behalf of all NY’ers…WELCOME HOME!
