In the wake of their sex scandal, Becki Falwell is speaking out on her relationship with her evangelical leader husband, Jerry Falwell Jr., saying their relationship has never been better.
“We have the strongest relationship, and Jerry is the most forgiving person I’ve ever met,” Becki told the Associated Press. “It’s a shame that Christians can’t give us the same forgiveness that Christ gave us.”
A Miami pool attendant named Giancarlo Granda claimed to have had “an intimate relationship” with Becki from 2012 to 2018, in which Jerry would watch their sexual encounters from the corner of the room.
The affair was confirmed by The Washington Post, but Becki denied the allegations that Jerri was involved in her affair in any way.
As a result of the scandal, Jerry stepped down as president from Liberty University, a renowned Christian school founded by his father, pastor Jerry Falwell Sr., so as not to allow any fallout from his wife’s affair to cause any issues for the school.
The Falwells admitted to having met an “ambitious young man” who worked at a hotel eight years ago, without naming Granda by name, who they entered into a business partnership with on an investment property.
Reuters reports that Granda’s relationship with the Falwells ended because of a business dispute.
