Ben & Jerry’s has teamed up with Congresswoman Cori Bush to introduce a new flavor for a great cause called “Change is Brewing.”
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Bush’s $10 billion public safety initiative pushing to redirect funds from cops and re-route them to social workers who can respond to specific mental health calls and other minor incidents. In addition, when customers place their orders for the ice cream on the company’s website, they will see links that lead them to educational information about causes benefiting people of color. Buyers will also have the option to “Join the Movement for Black Lives and support the People’s Response Act!” which will also allow them to receive email correspondence about the bill.
The limited-edition flavor is in collaboration with black-owned coffee and tea company Blk & Bold and New York’s Greyston Bakery. It consists of cold brew coffee ice cream with marshmallow swirls and fudge brownie chunks. The pint artwork depicts a Black woman painting the word “liberation,” designed by renowned artist Laci Jordan. The ice creamery has also teamed up with the Movement for Black Lives for the flavor’s official rollout.
