The love behind the scenes hit just as hard as the win itself. Fresh off a career-defining night, Teyana Taylor is still soaking in what her first Golden Globe win represents, and who showed up for her when the lights dimmed. Days after taking home Best Supporting Actress for “One Battle After Another,” Taylor shared that she received flowers and a handwritten note from Beyoncé, a moment that clearly meant everything.
Speaking with Extra on Tuesday, January 13, Taylor did not hold back her emotions.
“It was just so sweet. Oh my God, I just love her,” she said. “She’s been supporting me since I was 15 years old, and it’s always been very, very consistent. I also love that she’s watching me grow and, you know, watching me blossom, and I love making her proud. And I love that she don’t miss a chance to remind me of how proud she is of me, and that means the world to me.”
Taylor later shared the bouquet of white roses on Instagram, along with Beyoncé’s note: “Teyana, I’m so beyond proud of you. You deserve it all and then some. Keep beaming in your power. May God continue to bless you and yours. All my love, B.”
The honor marked Taylor’s first nomination and win at the Golden Globe Awards. She starred in the film alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, and her emotional acceptance speech quickly went viral.
“To my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight,” she said. “Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space.”
For Taylor, the trophy mattered. The pride behind it mattered more.
