The release of the Netflix docuseries “Sean Combs: The Reckoning” has brought renewed attention to long standing conversations about the relationship between Diddy and The Notorious B.I.G.

One of the most discussed moments comes from Kirk Burrowes, who described a dramatic shift in how Biggie’s funeral was handled. Burrowes claimed that Combs first promised a monumental farewell for the late rapper but changed direction once the true cost emerged.

Burrowes said the initial promise was confident and extravagant. He recalled hearing Combs declare, “We’re gonna do the biggest funeral for Biggie that New York has ever seen.”

As planning moved forward, Burrowes alleged that Combs reconsidered the financial commitment. He claimed Combs followed up with, “We’re gonna do the biggest funeral, but Biggie’s gonna have to pay for this funeral.”

He then expanded on the accusation, stating, “He was gonna make the funeral be a recoupable charge to Biggie in death. Sean doing a big show looks good on him. But he’s not gonna tell the world that Biggie was gonna pay for it.”

These statements quickly sparked public debate and pushed Biggie’s estate to address the rumors directly.

Wayne Barrow, who manages the estate of The Notorious B.I.G., responded soon after the episode began circulating online.

Although he did not speak on camera, he shared a detailed message with Loren LoRosa, who relayed his remarks during an appearance on “The Breakfast Club.”

LoRosa explained that Barrow reached out because countless people had contacted him about the claims and he wanted to correct the record on behalf of Ms. Voletta Wallace.

LoRosa stated that he denied the funeral allegation entirely. According to his account, it was not true that Combs used Biggie’s record label funds or his personal finances to cover the ceremony. Barrow emphasized that he personally handled the planning and officiating of the funeral alongside Kirk Burrowes, which made the claim inconsistent with the actual events.

LoRosa also relayed Barrow’s response to a separate claim made in the documentary.

The doc suggested that unresolved contract issues existed between Combs and Biggie shortly before the rapper was killed. Barrow disputed that narrative as well. He explained that no negotiations were underway because the “Life After Death” album was finished, leaving no contract matters open at the time.
