“Black Panther” Hits $700 Million Mark

Looks like “Black Panther” is one step closer to hitting the billion-dollar mark.

In its second weekend, “Black Panther” collected almost $108 million in the U.S. and Canada, making the total after only 12 days, $704 million.

The movie is doing extremely well considering Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” collected $773 million in 2014 over a span of five months.

According to Imax, which is playing the film in more than 60 countries, people are seeing the film more than once.

⠀⠀
“This movie has very strong word of mouth and a deeply loyal core fan base, which are both necessary criteria for repeat business,” said Greg Foster, Imax’s entertainment chief.

⠀⠀
While the film has yet to arrive in China and Japan, two of Hollywood’s biggest markets, it has received high numbers in other Asian countries, including South Korea.
