Blueface’s Jury Trial Over Weapon Charges Set For August

Rapper Blueface’s jury trial has been set for next month, in correlation with his assault with a deadly weapon charge.

Blueface, whose government name is #JohnathanPorter, was arrested on Nov. 16, 2018, after he was allegedly involved in a vehicle to vehicle gunfire incident on State Route Freeway in California. The ordeal ended with the car carrying Porter, crashing into a center divider. Reports show Porter had just endured a robbery attempt at a gas station in Newhall.

Three months later, the rapper was arrested again after police received a phone call that rappers were walking in the downtown area of Los Angeles wearing jewelry and carrying large amounts. The sudden police visit was allegedly due to the LAPD’s concern over the group’s safety, because of the area’s crime-ridden reputation. The group reportedly hid their guns in bushes before taking off.

Police found Porter in his car alone. Authorities later retrieved the hidden weapons and he was arrested along with two other people. The 22-year-old was charged with felony possession of carrying a loaded firearm. However, he was released on a $35,000 bail. His charge means he could face three years in prison. Porter’s manager #Wack100 maintains that his client is innocent and claims surveillance proves he did nothing wrong. Officials found the fingerprints found on the guns were not a match with the rappers.

Blueface’s jury trial is set for August 16.
