Body Pulled From Lake Michigan Identified As Missing 19-Year-Old Pregnant Woman

The body of a pregnant woman found in Lake Michigan has been identified as 19-year-old Yarianna Wheeler, who lived in Chicago.

The Lake County Sheriff’s office said a fisherman found the woman’s body in the water on Aug. 15 after floating for seven to 12 days, but she wasn’t identified until Saturday.

Authorities said Wheeler, who was six months pregnant, was stabbed multiple times.

The young woman, who was originally from Bellwood, Indiana, was identified by the Lake County Coroner’s Office Forensic Odontologist using dental records.

An autopsy revealed she had several sharp force injuries on her body, but the official cause of death is still pending. Her death is currently being investigated as a homicide.
