Bow Wow Sounds Off on Today’s Artists: “Ain’t Nobody Making Music That Makes the Ladies Cry” [Video]

Bow Wow is calling out the lackluster music and how artists approach their craft. The veteran rapper, who is currently gearing up to headline the “Boys for Life Tour,” stopped by “Sway’s Universe” to give his unfiltered take on the current state of hip-hop and R&B.

During the sit-down, he expressed his frustration with what he calls “right now” music, arguing that the industry is severely lacking in “substance” and records that truly resonate with listeners.

“Ain’t nobody making music that makes the ladies cry or feel some type of way when they put it on,” Bow said during the interview. While he acknowledged that today’s hits can be “big” in the moment, he’s more concerned about where these songs will be at the finish line. He challenged his peers to aim for something that will “last forever,” noting that many current tracks feel disposable.

For Bow, music should be more than just a background noise for the club; it should be “like therapy” or a way for fans to feel “healed” from something. He clarified that he isn’t against party anthems, but he believes they need a certain artistic touch to become timeless.

“Everybody can go to the club, buy a bottle, and shake some a**,” he noted, but he’s looking for artists who can talk about those same experiences in a more creative and thoughtful way.

The rapper isn’t just complaining from the sidelines; he plans to lead by example. He is preparing to drop his seventh studio album and bring that missing “substance” back with his upcoming single, “Father’s Day.

Having matured significantly since his last solo project in 2009, Bow Wow is leaning into his role as a father of two to offer fans something real. As he put it during the interview, “We’re missing substance,” and he’s ready to fill that void.
