Brit Eady is officially signing off on her marriage as she rings in the new year.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum took to Instagram on December 31, 2025, to let the world know that she and Mike Cunningham are calling it quits after five years together.
The split follows a whirlwind year for Brit, whose marriage was a major talking point during her time on RHOA. While viewers saw the 10 carat solitaire upgrades and the “healthy relationship” talk on screen, Brit revealed that the reality behind closed doors was much different. She opened up about how “disrespect” has been a major trigger for her, admitting that while she is naturally a kind and loving woman, she has reached a breaking point.
“I’m posting this on the last day of 365 to remove this facade of faking like this marriage is going to work. I’m done hurting and I want to be happy in my next chapter.”
Brit was also quick to shut down any “tea” before it could spill. She explicitly noted that despite her current feelings toward Mike, her departure isn’t based on any made up rumors or external scandals. Instead, she is focusing on the “soft version” of herself that she feels she lost during the union. She expressed that 2026 is about guarding her peace and staying away from any situation that forces her out of the person she has worked so hard to become.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Mike offered his own perspective on the end of the five year union. Acknowledging that while all marriages have their share of highs and lows, theirs was unfortunately picked apart by the public.
“I’ve always had the upmost respect for my wife and our union. In spite of some of our issues being brought to the public, I will not feed into into the drama and narratives being painted.”
The couple, who famously wed over Zoom during the 2020 pandemic, had recently talked about having a second, more glamorous wedding ceremony and even expanding their family through IVF. However, it seems those plans are officially off the table. As Brit moves forward, she is making it clear that her loyalty is now to her own happiness, proving that sometimes the best way to ring in the new year is by letting go of what no longer serves you.
