Buffalo Bills Trade for Amari Cooper After Narrow Win Over Jets

Amari Cooper

After a narrow victory over the New York Jets, the Buffalo Bills evaluated their offensive needs and made a bold move by acquiring wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns. With the departure of Stefon Diggs, Bills fans had high hopes that rookie Keon Coleman would step up, but his adjustment has taken longer than expected. For a team in win-now mode like the Bills, bolstering the receiving corps became necessary, especially in case running back James Cook suffers another injury, as he did last night.

In the deal, the Bills sent a third-round pick and a seventh-round pick in 2026 to the Browns in exchange for Cooper and a sixth-round pick in 2025. The Browns are struggling with numerous issues, the most significant being the poor play of quarterback Deshaun Watson, who ranks last in QBR and has led the team to a 1-5 record—the worst in the AFC North. Despite the Browns’ struggles, Cooper has been a consistent performer, playing all six games and recording 27 catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns.

Cooper is expected to come in and immediately establish himself as a reliable wide receiver one. Bills quarterback Josh Allen has yet to throw an interception this season, showing improved decision-making and playing at a high level. Through 146 career games, Cooper has racked up nearly 10,000 receiving yards (9,736) and 62 touchdowns. The Bills are hopeful Cooper will suit up for their game against the Tennessee Titans this Sunday.
