California Man Purposely Rams Car Carrying Six Teenagers For Allegedly Pranking Houses, Leaves Three Dead

Anurag Chandra, 42, of California, has been identified as the suspect responsible for the senseless act of slamming into a car full of six teenage boys on Sunday night.

Chandra, driving an Infiniti Q50, reportedly slammed into a 2002 Toyota Prius, carrying the group of teenagers, according to PEOPLE.

The impact of the crash, which occurred in Temescal Valley, California, around  10:30 p.m., forced the other car to slam into a tree.

A mother of one of the victims told KTLA that the boys were reportedly out together for one of their birthdays.

Prior to the crash, they were reportedly playing ding-dong-ditch on houses, which is possibly what upset Chandra and led him to chase the boys.

“Obviously there was some sort of contact which led to this incident whereby he felt — or he did — ram this vehicle, causing the deaths of these three young boys,” Yokley said.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Following the incident, three of the six boys were able to leave the vehicle, while the other three remained trapped.

While at this time there is no evidence of a specific motive, David Yokley of the California Highway Patrol revealed at a press conference that Chandra is being held on suspicion of murder as well as attempted murder, PEOPLE reports.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

An 18-year-old was driving the vehicle that carried all minors, including three 16-year-olds and two 13-year-olds.

All three 16-year-olds passed away from the tragic incident, according to CBS Los Angeles.

One of the boys was pronounced dead at the scene while two others died at the hospital. The rest remain hospitalized and are expected to survive, according to KABC.

Chandra fled the scene following the crash. However, a witness nearby followed the suspect and reported his location to local authorities.

He was arrested at approximately 2:45 a.m.
