Megan Thee Stallion has been sued by former cameraman Emilio Garcia, who is accusing the rap star of creating a hostile work environment, including an incident where he alleges he was compelled to witness her engage in a sexual act.
The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, describes an event where Garcia was allegedly forced to witness Megan, whose real name is Megan Pete, engaging in sexual activities with another woman while confined in a moving vehicle during a trip to Ibiza, Spain, in June 2022.
Describing the encounter, Garcia stated, “I felt uncomfortable. I was kind of frozen, and I was shocked. At kind of just be the overall audacity to do this right, right beside me,” in an interview with NBC News. He also recalled how Megan instructed him the next day to keep silent about the incident, saying, “Don’t ever discuss what you saw.”
The suit further accuses Megan of verbal abuse, including fat-shaming comments towards Garcia, which he found particularly hypocritical and degrading coming from someone who publicly advocates for body positivity. “To hear someone who advocates about loving your body tell me these things,” Garcia said, “I felt degraded.”
Post-Ibiza, Garcia alleges that his work conditions deteriorated significantly. His compensation structure was changed from a monthly flat rate to a task-based payment system, requiring him to invoice for each assignment. This change, coupled with decreased bookings and altered treatment by Megan, made his working conditions intolerable, leading him to consider quitting.
Garcia’s experiences culminated in his dismissal in June 2023, just before a scheduled job, when Roc Nation, Megan’s management company, informed him that his services were no longer required. The lawsuit highlights the challenges of advocating for oneself in the entertainment industry, an environment Garcia describes as lacking conventional human resources support.
Further allegations include employment and wage violations related to Garcia’s classification as an independent contractor, which purportedly deprived him of necessary healthcare coverage and other benefits. The claim seeks compensation for unpaid wages, interest, statutory penalties, and additional costs.
