Capitol Rioter That Allegedly Stole Nancy Pelosi’s Laptop Faces New Charges

The woman accused of stealing a laptop from Nancy Pelosi’s office during the violent U.S. Capitol riot is now facing a slew of new charges.

In newly released court docs, the amended criminal complaint references a video from the day of the riot. Riley Williams is heard instructing a man to put on gloves before touching Pelosi’s laptop. The complaint also states that Williams is seen entering and exiting the U.S. Speaker’s office. 

As a result of the amended complaint, Williams is now charged with “Aid Abet Others to Embezzle, Steal, Purloin” and “Obstruct, Influence or Impede any Official Proceeding.” She also faces her initial charges of “Knowingly Entering or Remaining in any Restricted Building or Grounds Without Lawful Authority” and “Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct on Capitol Grounds.” 

Williams was apprehended by the authorities on Monday in Pennsylvania after a former lover reported her to the FBI multiple times as one of the people who stormed the Capitol. The ex-partner, who has not been identified, shared the footage with investigators. In the clip, Williams is believed to be the person holding the camera. She then points the camera downward to show the HP sitting on a desk. In addition, Williams’ former partner claimed that the woman intended to ship the device to a friend in Russia, who would then sell it to the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation. However, the plan did not go through. 

Capitol Police confirmed that a laptop of the same model was taken from Pelosi’s office and that the video evidence shows the inside of her office. 

To make matters worse for Williams, she allegedly confessed in a post on the Discord app that she stole the computer. 

 “I STOLE S*** FROM NANCY POLESI (sic)” and “I TOOK NANCY POLESIS HARD DRIVES I DONT CARE,” the post read.  

It is not clear if she has obtained a lawyer.
