Carmelo Anthony Officially Out For The Season

It’s a wrap for Carmelo Anthony and I think it’s pretty safe to say, it’s also a wrap for the New York Knicks. At least for this season. Over the weekend, the Knicks bought out Amar’e Stoudemire, who will now be joining the Dallas Mavericks. And now, they are about to lose yet another player, their best player at that, Carmelo Anthony, to season-ending surgery on his left knee. The Knicks, who are currently sitting at a very dismal 10-43 record, will have to rely on the likes of Langston Galloway, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Jose Calderon for the rest of the season, a future that doesn’t seem too promising. Even if they were to acquire a new player mid-season from another team, they would need nothing short of a miracle at this point.

Carmelo is expected to be out of commission for anywhere between four and six months. Prior to the official announcement that was made this afternoon, there were already rumors circulating that Carmelo might be out for the rest of the season. Even if he would be able to come back after surgery towards the end of the regular season, there’s really no point. He might as well just rest up for the following year. If it’s any consolation to Knicks fans, I guess they can at least look forward to getting a high pick in the next NBA draft.Ā
