As Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial continues, the music mogul’s defense team is attempting to frame ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura as a bitter ex who never got the commitment she wanted. On Friday, previously private text messages between Ventura and Combs were read aloud in court, offering a glimpse into the emotional strain and unresolved tension that lingered between the two after their 11-year relationship ended.
One of the messages came shortly after the death of Combs’ ex-partner Kim Porter in 2018. Ventura, clearly upset, texted Combs:
“You compared me to Gina the other day and you posted Kim was your soulmate. What was the 11 years all about? That hurt my feelings.”
The message referred to a public tribute Combs posted on Instagram honoring Porter, with whom he shared three children. The heartfelt caption read: “We were more than best friends, we were more than soulmates. WE WERE SOME OTHER S**T!! And I miss you so much. Super Black Love.”
Combs and Porter had been in an on-again, off-again relationship from 1994 to 2007, and even in the months leading up to her death, the two had been photographed vacationing and spending time together with their children.
In prior testimony, Ventura admitted feeling hurt that Combs spent holidays with Porter and their family instead of her, despite their long-term relationship. She described moments when he would take family trips with Porter and their kids, leaving her feeling like an outsider.
The defense used the text to suggest Ventura’s allegations may be rooted in resentment, painting her as someone who felt passed over despite a long-term relationship.
However, Ventura’s broader testimony has detailed years of emotional, physical, and psychological abuse, and she maintains that her decision to speak out is about finding peace and reclaiming her story.

correct that part all everyone sees is a domestic violence situation on both parties. I believe this was a money grab for her and although he physically abused her at times she stayed because of who he was. They arrested him for what again. I heard nothing about sex trafficking. dude that testified was a dancer who Diddy then paid for sex. Where are all these other people if he was trafficking people. and he took drugs with him wherever he went which was his choice he wasn’t selling drugs he didn;t need to his money is long. this is a waste of a trial waste of tax payers money
