Cedric the Entertainer Defends Travis Scott Against Astroworld Tragedy

It’s been nearly two months since the Astroworld tragedy left ten dead and hundreds injured. While Travis Scott continues to deal with the fallout of the “concert from hell,” a certain comedian has come to his defense.

Many people think the rapper is to blame for the festival tragedy, but Cedric the Entertainer disagrees.

During a recent interview on “The Domenick Nati Show,” the comedian discussed the allegations against Scott and said that he shouldn’t be held accountable for what transpired at his event. Instead, he believes law enforcement should be blamed.

“I looked at some of the videos and everything, I mean, the police were right there in front of them, and they’re not reacting,” he said. “That’s their job.”

He added, “Never was he up on stage yelling, ‘Let’s f**k them up and turn it up and let’s go and let’s ger wilder,'” Cedric said. “He didn’t incite it. I really wouldn’t like him to take the blame for that.”

The Barbershop actor drew comparisons to when he performed for a crowd of 3,000, and a fight broke out. He believes the complaints should be directed at the Houston Police Department for lack of security and lack of awareness of concertgoers’ cries for help.

Cedric said his venue was much smaller than Astroworld and that even for him, it was difficult to tell what was happening on stage, so he could only imagine what the rappers experienced.

“For the most part, he’s there to entertain. He’s in an entertainment vibe. He’s got a very hype show, he’s jumping, he’s hopping around, lights, explosions, you know, it’s that!” Cedric exclaimed

During an interview with Charlamagne the God, Scott broke his silence to address the controversy.  He claimed that he had no knowledge of the chaos in the crowd until it was too late.

In November, Scott’s Lawyer called to end “finger-pointing” regarding the investigation and urged authorities to focus so “we can truly identify what occurred and how we can prevent anything like this from happening again.
