It went left in Chicago fast, and now Jaden Ivey is officially out the door. The Chicago Bulls waived Ivey on Monday, citing conduct detrimental to the team after a wave of social media posts raised eyebrows inside and outside the locker room.

The move lands just weeks after Chicago picked him up in a trade from Detroit, hoping for a late-season spark. Instead, the situation flipped quickly. Ivey posted multiple videos in recent weeks speaking on religion and other topics, and his latest clip took direct aim at the NBA’s Pride Month, calling it a celebration of “unrighteousness.”
That message didn’t sit quietly.
The Bulls made their decision public Monday, ending his brief run after just four appearances. He was already sidelined with a left knee injury, so his time on the court never fully got going anyway.
Still, Ivey’s journey hasn’t been smooth lately. The 24-year-old previously opened up about battling depression, and injuries have slowed his momentum since entering the league. After being selected No. 5 overall in 2022, he showed flashes early in Detroit before knee issues limited him to 30 games last season and caused more missed time this year.
He also didn’t lock in an extension with the Pistons last summer, so now he hits free agency with more questions than answers.
Chicago made it clear. Talent alone wasn’t enough to keep the jersey.
