Chicago Off-Duty Cop Allegedly Kills Girlfriend and Mother of Child Because She Planned to Break Up With Him

An off-duty cop in Chicago allegedly shot and killed the mother of his child because she planned on breaking up with him.

On Thursday, police found the lifeless body of 29-year-old Andris Wofford in a home on the Northwest side of the city with a gunshot wound to her head.

According to The New York Post, Wofford’s sister told Chicago police that the woman had been dating a cop for two to three years but planned on leaving the relationship while still working with the man to co-parent their 9-month-old child Post.

That reportedly didn’t sit right with the unidentified officer, who previously had a complaint filed against him by Wofford, accusing him of domestic violence. “Everyone is shocked,” said Wofford’s sister, Chquita Bell. “Everyone is distraught. Confused. We didn’t see this coming. We didn’t know that it had gotten to this point.”

Wofford’s father was reportedly supposed to pick up Wofford’s baby, and when he and Wofford’s sister weren’t able to reach her early Thursday, he went to the officer’s home to check in. Her body was discovered in the 2100 block of North Nashville Avenue.

Wofford, who worked as a social worker, also has a 6-year-old child. “So young and so vibrant and so full of life,” Bell said of her sister, who was working toward earning a master’s degree. “She loved her job, her career, school, everything. She was really doing it.”

WLFD reports that not much information has been released about the cop. The New York Post reports that he is in custody and has yet to receive charges.
