Chick-fil-A Supplier Accidentally Slipped Dairy Allergen In Grilled Chicken Products

Chick-fil-A is under fire after a dairy allergen was found in its grilled chicken products.

The restaurant chain says they immediately notified customers that its Grilled Chicken Filet and Grilled Nuggets were “unintentionally” tainted with the allergen by the supplier. The Atlanta-based company quickly updated its mobile app and website’s allergy warnings and ingredient information. They also sent signs to the restaurants warning guests of the unfortunate food tainting. Getting the word out was at the top of Chick-fil-A’s list of priorities, considering that some of the affected products are still in their food inventory. Chick-fil-A says it will alter its recipe soon but will continue selling the potentially tainted meats until supplies run out.

“We understand and take seriously the trust our guests place in us to make sure their food is how they expect it, and we apologize for this situation,” Chick-fil-A said in a statement.

The chicken chain says the undeclared dairy allergen was added to the poultry’s lunch and dinner portions, which is supposed to be the healthier option among the fried chicken sandwiches, strips, and nuggets.

The allergen will not hurt everyone, but for those with allergies, dairy can be extremely dangerous. According to the CDC, dairy can lead to serious reactions such as hives, stomachaches, vomiting, bloody stool, and in severe cases, anaphylactic shock.
