Chief Keef’s manager, Idris Dykes, is setting the record straight after a wild rumor about the rapper’s safety took over the internet.
Dykes made it clear to Fox 32 Chicago that the reports are completely fabricated. “No, this is false,” he told the outlet. Keef has not been to Chicago since he did Summer Smash two years ago.”
The rumors started after a tweet from the account @TommyGoBraazy claimed that Sosa had been shot six times in the face while filming a music video in his old neighborhood. “Popular Rapper ‘Chief Keef’ has reportedly been shot 6x in the face after returning to O’block after 15 years to film a music video, he is currently on life support,” read the post he shared on Wednesday. “Pray for Chief Keef.”

The post quickly went viral, racking up over 2.3 million views, leaving fans in a state of panic. Many took the news as fact, sparking a wave of “RIP” posts and tributes before the truth came out.
This isn’t the first time that @TommyGoBraazy has been caught pushing a fake narrative; just earlier this week, Charleston White had to step in and shut down viral rumors from the same account claiming he had been shot in Fort Worth.
While Sosa fans are relieved to know he’s safe, the situation has sparked a heated conversation about how easily misinformation spreads online.
Many social media users are calling for stricter rules against accounts that chase clout by faking celebrity deaths.
