Chipotle Disables Online Taco Ordering Following $3 Burrito Hack [Video]

Chipotle is fed up with customers taking advantage of the TikTok $3 burrito hack and is taking swift action to ensure they get all of their coins.

In case you weren’t up on game, several customers have ordered a single $3 taco with an extra 40-cent tortilla on the side. They then add each topping on the side, recreating the regular burrito for around $3.95 total that typically costs $9 or more. Since budget-savvy customers are ordering this meal online, Chipotle has been unable to stop them. Now, the company is cracking down by eliminating the ability to purchase the $3 taco online.

The company sent out an email to managers on September 7th, letting them know that anyone wanting to order a single taco can do so in person only. That way, they can deny customers the add-ons. Instead, patrons must pay full price for the burrito they want.

Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Laurie Schalow said that even though Chipotle has released hack-style menus in the past, this latest leaked hack is harmful to the company.

“The current social media trend is resulting in a poor experience for our food, our employees, and our customers waiting for orders,” she explained.

Chiptole’s price increase has led fans to find ways around the pricey menu. In the first quarter of 2022, the company added a 4% increase. In August, the chain again raised prices about $.50 to $1 per entree.

R.I.P. to this viral hack that has fed many hungry TikTokers on a budget, but not to fear. The next great food hack is just around the corner.
